We provide a complete design and build service fabricating all members to your exact specification, including connections, coatings (galvanised, intumescent) and finishes. Our engineering design service provides a complete solution to structural design recommendations, suggested connections and supporting calculations. In addition, site services will see components of your structure delivered and erected to your requirements and timescales.

Secondary Steel

We can cater for any secondary steel needs whether as part of a complete solution or component specific, to produce the following;

  • Staircases
  • Hand railings / Balustrades
  • Balconies
  • Mezzanine flooring
  • Gates / Fencing
  • Architecturally enhanced steelwork
  • Design/Detailing

Using industry standard CAD software, we offer a complete 2D detailing service for all our projects. Our drawing office manages all drawing / design issues, design specifications, revisions, issuing to production etc. State of the art 3D modelling allows us to rapidly produce complete models for any engineering application, accounting for environmental conditions and project specific factors. We are able to collaborate on 3D models with architects and design teams using either X-Steel or StruCAD, taking advantage of real-time specification changes and revisions. Our design capability can accommodate entire projects and include site evaluation, geographic/weather loading factor calculations, connection design.

Pipe Work

Experienced in this specialised field, we accommodate specialist requirements for designing, engineering, fabricating, installing and testing pipe work for varied applications from petrochemical to manufacturing to utility.

Process Lines

Having designed, fabricated and installed complete process lines along with numerous process line refurbishments (pipe repair / replacement, functional additions, instrumentation upgrades or replacements) for a range of applications, in different industries, we have the expertise in the area to meet your objectives.

Refurbishments

We have undertaken numerous projects in this specialist area of construction. Whilst a lot of the structure of the building is in place on refurbishments, challenges arise in providing support to the frame of the existing structure during reconstruction and refurbishment.

Corrosion Protection

Using advanced coatings, specific application and substrate preparation processes in custom built finishing bays, we are able to guarantee paint finishes in excess of ten years. Specialist finishes such as powder coating, galvanising and plating can also be performed as per contract specification.

By their very nature, engineering projects are complex to manage; co-ordinating resources, working with time scales and fulfilling specific requirements requires experience, excellent organisation and effective communication. Unexpected delays, supplier issues and contract variations further increase the complexity of managing a project effectively, requiring sound and informed decision making. Our clients are assured of outstanding levels of service through reliance on our detailed and relevant experience of managing steelwork fabrication through to erection, to achieve delivery of all project goals.

Estimating / Surveying

Our Senior Estimators engaged in contract specifications and client requirements ensure their work is accurate and addresses all specific requirements. We are qualified to tender for a wide range of projects relying on our experience, best practice and innovative solutions to provide defined and accurate estimation for client’s projects. We co-ordinate all aspects of contract services provision, thus enabling an overview of requirements (some of which are not always explicitly stated) whilst still at the drawing board.

Project Management

Project management is the client’s communication link with project progress, providing information on the progress of works, performance metrics and how effectively issues or queries are being handled. The management of a project is fundamental to its success and needs to be handled methodically and in an organised manner. For large, complex or on-going projects, organisation is even more critical to success. We understand this and have invested to ensure all members of our team are provided with the requisite tools and skills necessary to manage the project cycle with competence and professionalism, to sustain the smooth running of our projects. We have experience in dealing with the multitude of contributors to a construction project in line with client expectations, effectively co-ordinating all activities required to get the job done on time, to specification and within the agreed budget.

Site Operations Management

Comprehensive management of site operations is imperative and critical to success in our field. Our experienced delivery teams are able to direct efforts effectively to ensure we execute site tasks as expected. The H, E & C Ltd. approach to managing site operations ensures regulatory compliance is met and all company procedures are followed to guarantee successful completion of the project.

Quick, efficient on-site erection services, co-ordinated by experienced project managers and performed by skilled and experienced staff using high performance equipment and lifting / moving machinery. Our strength lies in planning and co-ordinating our on-site efforts precisely to maximise productivity and ensure a safe working environment.
Plant Erection / Installation

We utilise a range of plant machinery to handle and lift large components and gain access for assembly of the total structure. Hoisting large, ground-assembled components often provides significant time savings for the project by minimising working at height, thus alleviating the restrictions of confined work areas and small erection teams. H, E & C Ltd. has adopted specialist lifting methods to complement our service delivery offering.

Machinery Movement

We have the experience and hardware capability to transport large machinery, building components and tanks to and from site, co-ordinating local authority highway approvals and police escorts.

Craneage

We are proficient and certified in using a wide range of craneage for site-based activities.

Working at Heights

We make use of scissor lifts, cherry pickers and tele-handlers on-site, particularly in assembly of components for structural applications. All operators are certified and well versed in the use of appropriate safety equipment for each task. Regular reviews are conducted on plant and operator competence in-line with our site and HSQE policies.

Materials Handling

Our portfolio of plant and equipment supports on-site operations in efficiently handling various materials used in construction. We maintain our plant machinery in-house to specific maintenance schedules to ensure reliability and safe operation.

Hayes Engineering and Cladding Limited also undertakes the manufacture of Trapezoidal and Sinusoidal profiles together with our range of cold rolled products including Z-Purlins, C-Sections and Eaves Beam Sections. Operating from our purpose built 9,300 square metre factory on the out-skirts of Cardiff, South Wales, our facility is only minutes away from the M4 motorway.

We operate a full profiled steel sheet rolling mill with an output of 80 tonnes / week and a cold rolling mill with capacity to produce 50 tonnes / week of cold rolled Z-purlins & C-sections. In addition, we offer a complete range of flashings and gutters manufactured in-house on our folding presses with production of lengths up to 6.0metres possible.

Our short lead times of 7-10 working days give us a leading-edge capability in providing a complete package of sheeting and cold rolled materials delivered to site in one visit.

H, E&C Ltd. is C.E Marked compliant and BS EN ISO 9001 certified.
